Annie Moses Band is a classical-crossover ensemble of six siblings, known for their virtuosic string playing, eclectic vocals and stylistically diverse arrangements. Their music includes classical, Americana, progressive folk, and jazz influences.
The Annie Moses Band signed with Warner Classics in spring of 2015. The band is currently touring music from their newest album, American Rhapsody, due in stores Sept. 11, 2015. Inspired by George Gershwin's description of his "Rhapsody in Blue" as an "American musical kaleidoscope", the album includes original songs and classic American folk tunes.
The Annie Moses Band presents American Rhapsody, a panoramic exploration of America and her music. Featuring favorites from Aaron Copland, George Gershwin, and other American originals, American Rhapsody fuses Appalachian bluegrass, Irish fiddle, beloved classical themes, and roots music to create a beautiful and transporting concert experience.
Warner Classics is proud to present the Annie Moses Band, a wonderfully innovative and exciting American group, which has been defying genre boundaries for some time now. All members of the same family – the group is named after their great-grandmother – they are not only Julliard-trained instrumentalists, but they are skilled arrangers and singer-songwriters to boot. Their sound and aesthetic is both eclectic and appealing, with influences ranging from American country, folk and bluegrass combined with a pop/jazz/rock twist, all rooted in classical training. Family and faith are incredibly important to the group, both of which helping to keep them grounded. Their first Warner Classics release, American Rhapsody, has all the folk and country elements they are known for – with tracks such as Shenandoah and Fare Thee Well – but with a strong classical seam running through it, with familiar melodies from Dvorak’s American String Quartet and Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue woven into the album’s tapestry.

Annie Moses Band's American Rhapsody is a sometimes raucous, sometimes tender celebration of America. The Wolavers love America, they love God, they love music, and they share that love with us in this extraordinary collection of classics and original songs.
Stylistically, Annie Moses Band defies description. Although this time around they pull from a strictly traditional canon (no Elton John or Jim Croce in this collection), their unique blend of classical, folk, bluegrass and pop (let's call it "classical fusion") is as rich and genre-bending as ever. Bill Wolaver, the group's progenitor and pianist/arranger, supplies each song with lush, majestic arrangements that cause one's soul to soar. The original songs are excellent. AMB's love for literature and language is woven into memorable melodies throughout. Their pride of their Native American heritage shines through on such tracks as "Choctaw" and "Cherokee Cowboy".
Not only is the music beautiful, the CD package is gorgeous. This group loves style and they dress in style. The artwork is classically beautiful (pun intended). It's obvious AMB cares about the details.
Gershwin, Aaron Copeland, Stephen Foster, the words of Longfellow--it's all here. My personal favorites are the sad songs. "Shenandoah" and "Hard Times Come Again No More" are achingly and hauntingly beautiful. A line from "Hard Times" appropriately sums up this collection: "There's a song that will linger forever in our ears...music light and fair". We are grateful to the Wolavers for another outstanding addition to the AMB canon .
