1978年初，Waylon & Willie 都已是乡村音乐巨星，俩人在事业上都获得了成功，Waylon 1977年的《ol'waylon》专辑中"Luckenbach， Texas （Back to the Basics of Love）获得他职业生涯中第一个最受欢迎的单曲奖，Nelson 的“Red Headed Stranger ”后来被评为滚石杂志评出的500张历代最强专辑中排名第184位，也是经典之作，他们不可避免地会录制一张二重唱专辑，尽管他们都签约了不同的唱片公司（ Waylon RCA 和 Willie Columbia）经过 RCA 的 Jerry Bradley的凑合下，他们终于有机会合作了一把。
Ed和PatsyBruce在1978年3月写的Mammas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys ，乡村音乐排行榜上停流四个星期，并赢得了1979年格莱美奖最佳乡村表演的二重奏奖，这张专辑被分为三首独唱和五首二重唱，所以这张专辑发挥了他的长处，但是仍有拼凑的痕迹，
2001年RCA唱片公司首次重新发行了cd版本，在此之前美版CD版本只有8首歌，2001年是11首。
