八音盒的幻想(NHK日本版）

主要部分由动力源（发条或摇把等动力源）、音筒、音板、阻尼、底板、传动机构等部分组成。
原理是动力带动表面有小凸起的音筒匀速转动，当凸起经过音板音条时会拨动簧片（先将其慢慢抬起，然后突然放下）使簧片按设定的振动频率振动而发出设定的声音。八音盒的音板部分是在一块弹性钢板上切割长短一致，但是厚薄粗细不等的细条做成的（厚薄粗细按设定振动频率不等）。音筒上的一个凸点相当于是乐谱上一个音符。一个音筒按有规律设定的凸点，音筒转动，凸点从音板边缘划过，由于凸点的不同，使发音不同，再加上阻尼的作用，使音筒做匀速转动，一周转下来一般普通机芯在8-17秒之间，这就足以把一首曲子的高潮部分表达出来；当然高端的音乐盒一般在30秒-8分钟之间循环。
