虽标注了《雷斯庇基: 管弦乐全集(8CD)》，但实际上不全，少了一些管弦乐作品，如《神奇玩具店 / 奇妙玩具店》、《女王驾到(希巴女王)组曲》、《侏儒之舞》、《E大调组曲》等。

奥托里诺·雷斯庇基（Ottorino Respighi,1879－1936），意大利作曲家。1879年7月9日生于意大利博洛尼亚，1936年4月18日卒于罗马。

二十世纪初，意大利器乐代表性作曲家。1879年7月9日出生于意大利的Bologna。12岁他就进入音乐学校学习小提琴，19岁那年他开始学习作曲，1900年与1902年他前往俄国与作曲家里姆斯基-科萨柯夫(Rimsky-Korsakov)学习，在他24岁至29岁之间，他还曾是一个弦乐四重奏团中的成员，他演奏小提琴与中提琴。1908-1909年间，他进入了布鲁赫(Bruch)在柏林的作曲班中向他请益。

1913年，他受聘为罗马一所音乐学院的教授，10年後，他被选为校长，但两年後他因希望有更多时间作曲、教书及陪太太便辞去了这个职位。他的太太是位作曲家也是位歌手Elasa Olivieri-Sangiacomo。

Respighi is best remembered for his scenic views of Rome, namely the wonderfully descriptive triptych Feste romane, Fontane di Roma and Pini di Roma; look beyond these works, however, and youll find a sizeable, rich and varied orchestral output unsurprising for a composer who is today regarded as one of the supreme masters of orchestration. Anyone interested in a Respighi orchestral intégrale, therefore, should seriously consider this comprehensive set a bringing-together of four previously released volumes in which Francesco La Vecchia and his Roman orchestra unite the famous with a generous helping of not-so-famous works. Of Volume 4 (CDs 5 and 6), Gramophone commented on how ""La Vecchia directs proceedings with obvious affection, and the playing has engaging spirit and no mean grace"", and this certainly applies to the rest of the set, which includes a number concertante offerings played by several assured performers cellist Andrea Noferini, for example, creates an ""impassioned, songful"" rendition of Adagio con variazioni, and pianist Désirée Scuccuglia gives a red-blooded and formidably secure account (Gramophone) of Concerto in modo misolidio. Italys musical past is of course in evidence throughout the box, for the composer spent much of his career arranging Baroque music and experimenting with neo-Classical techniques; theres a deft account of The Birds (Gli uccelli), Respighis most exciting example of early music (here Baroque harpsichord pieces), with Concerto a cinque taking the form of an updated Corellian concerto grosso. Covering the period 190233, the works cover the majority of Respighis working career and serve to highlight his unique and colourful sound world, simultaneously tracing his development of style.

Reviews:

Love this collection but it's not in any way "complete" as far as Respighi's orchestral output is concerned. A few gems missing: "The Fantastic Toyshop" which is weird because another Rossini redo, "Rossiniana" is included. There are full versions as well as the suite available elsewhere. Also not here, the marvelous "Belkis, Queen of Sheba" suite. the "Dance of the Gnomes," the "Suite in E Major," the ballets "La Pentolla Magica" and two others, etc.

In short. this is a great orchestral collection, but entirely misrepresented as "complete."
